Ahmed Elkhalidi is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and designer who lives and works between Adelaide, Australia and Amman, Jordan. His practice moves across drawing, printmaking, animation, book illustration, and digital design, always guided by a deep interest in memory, place, and the stories carried across generations.
For more than thirty years, Ahmed has been active in the art scene in the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. He has participated in many exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events, including solo and group shows in Adelaide, Amman, Dubai, Sharjah, Madrid, Lisbon, and other cities. His work has appeared in art centres, galleries, museums, and community spaces, reflecting his commitment to accessible, human‑centred art. These exhibitions span themes of identity, migration, childhood, and the emotional landscapes of home.
Ahmed has illustrated and created several children’s books with publishers such as Tamer Institute, Asala Publishers, and the Commissioner for Victims’ Rights. His books explore imagination, empathy, and the everyday experiences of children in the Arab world and beyond. His illustration style blends traditional craft with contemporary visual storytelling, making his work warm, expressive, and instantly recognisable.
His education includes studies in art, printmaking, sculpture, graphics, animation, and multimedia in Adelaide, Dublin, and Amman. Alongside his formal studies, Ahmed has completed extensive professional training in animation, woodwork, pottery, printmaking, leadership, and information design. This broad background shapes his multidisciplinary approach and his ability to move confidently between analogue and digital techniques.
Ahmed works across both PC and Mac environments and uses Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects, and WordPress. His design work includes book covers, web design, cultural publications, and community projects. Whether he is illustrating a children’s story, designing a website, or preparing an exhibition, his focus remains on clarity, emotion, and storytelling.
Today, Ahmed continues to develop new work between Adelaide and Amman, drawing inspiration from both cities, their people, and the movement between them. His practice remains rooted in curiosity, cultural memory, and the belief that art can connect people across distance and experience
